The tennis section held their Finals day for both junior and senior competitors on a glorious day last Saturday 12th July, marred only briefly by a thunderstorm right at the end of the day.

SENIORS

Well done to all the finalists, with especial congratulations to Catherine Rose, who at the tender age of fifteen, trounced experienced competitor Anne Clark. Thank you to Jeannette and Mary for all your hard work in ensuring it was a great tournament – this year’s senior tournament was especially successful, in that there were 101 entries…a record number of people all enjoying competitive tennis.

A big thank you to all the umpires, it makes a great difference to finals day.

The day was nicely rounded off with a barbecue and seniors trophy presentation.

Thanks to the chefs, Mike Wells, John Roe and Steve Gillham, and to all those who provided delicious salads
