Tennis Pimms Tournament

The Tennis section held their Annual Pimms Tournament on Saturday 6th July

Despite the unpredictable weather, and frequent showers 44 people turned up to play an American Tournament organised by the coach Terry Cooper.    The Men’s event was won by Gudrat Guluzade but the overall winner was Carolyn Fisher and she was presented with the Jean Thirlwall Rose Bowl, by club chairman John Roe. Jean was a former member of the tennis section, and her husband kindly donated the trophy in her memory. The profit from the tournament was £150 which will be sent to the Royal Marsden Hospital.

During the afternoon, a bench was unveiled in memory of Martin Starkie, a tennis member  who died very suddenly last year.  A raffle was held, and this raised £256 which will be sent to The British Heart Foundation in Martins memory.

Thanks to all the members who bought tickets and supported this raffle.
